Candidates must possess a valid VT Nursing license.
Major Tasks, Duties and Responsibilities
- Conducts job responsibilities in accordance with the FCRC Code of Conduct, policies and procedures, applicable federal and state laws and applicable professional standards.
- Promotes adherence to FCRC’s Code of Business Conduct.
- Administers resident medications and treatments in accordance with EMAR/ETAR.
- Assures resident safety by providing and directing care to attain or maintain their highest physiological, mental and psychosocial wellbeing as determined by Resident assessment and individualized plan of care.
- Assure that resident remains free from abuse or neglect.
- Observes and evaluates resident condition, communicates with charge nurse regarding resident status and changes in status.
- Assists charge nurse in identifying any restorative or rehabilitation needs for long term residents.
- Helps licensed nurse aides regarding call lights and care upon request.
- Assist charge nurse with managing resident appointments, transfers and other needs as directed.
- Ensure that medication and treatment carts are stocked with necessary medications, supplies. Ensure that they are not expired, properly labeled, and maintained in accordance with regulations.
- Communicates with residents and families regarding resident’s plan of care and overall status, notification of changes in status. Provides education to residents and families when appropriate.
- Demonstrates competency in resident evaluation, phlebotomy, blood glucose monitoring, INR monitoring, enteral feeding, wound care, catheter care, IV therapy and other necessary skilled treatments and notification of resident death and support to family.
- Completes necessary nursing documentation to meet regulations. (AIMS, Braden and Skin, wound documentation, monthly summary, green sheets for admissions.)
- Follow resident weights, vital signs, I&O, bowel record, INRs, blood glucose levels.
- Attends report at beginning and end of shift. Communicates to the on-coming charge nurse and licensed staff any outstanding issues, follow up needed, new orders, outstanding orders and treatments.
- Perform resident and environmental rounds on unit for quality of care, infection control, auditing of tubing labels and dates, and room cleanliness.
- Completes Resident incident and infection reports and follows up on these when indicated
- Provides guidance, supervision and performance feedback to licensed nurse aides on unit and reports issues to charge nurse when necessary.
- Monitor care tasks and EMAR/ETAR to ensure no incomplete documentation.
- Administers CPR and provides competent interventions in clinical emergencies.
